John Michael Moore

John Michael Moore, 69, Foxboro, WI, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth surrounded by his family.

He was born on January 25, 1944 in Newport, England, the son of William and Eliza May (Marshall) Moore. They lived in England until John was 9 (in 1952) when they moved to Montpelier, ND. John was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on May 6, 1958.

John served in the National Guard for six years.

He married Kim Wicklund on September 13, 1993 in Ironwood, MI and celebrated nineteen years or marriage.

John was an independent owner/operator truck driver since 1976. He was leased to Admiral Merchants in Minneapolis, MN for the last twenty-two years of which he was accident free. He was the June 2011 “Driver of the Month” for the Minnesota Trucker’s Association. He was the first to receive the 20 years of Safe Driving Award. He was the second person to receive the Ira Payne Service Award in 2012. He continued his safe driving record up until his death.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, boxing, and the history channel. He had a passion for gardening, and spending time visiting with family and friends. He was most often seen with his cowboy hat and boots. It was not uncommon to get a call from him as he passed through town to meet for coffee and conversation.

John is survived by his wife, Kim; children, Donna (Brian) Krasnansky, Wimauma, FL, Philip (Peppy) Moore, Jamestown, ND, Cheri (Jason) Mains, Foxboro, WI, Richard (Ann) LaJoie, South Range, WI and Daniel (Tanya) LaJoie, Superior, WI; sisters, Ruby DeLair, Montpelier, ND and Doris Bingham, England; fourteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents William and Eliza May Moore, grandson Tanner Moore, brother Billy Moore and his childhood friend, Glenn McClean.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior and continue until the 1:00 PM memorial service with Pastor Mark Holmes of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church officiating.

There will also be a memorial service held in Jamestown, ND at the Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 1 PM.
