John P. O’Sullivan, 82, Superior resident, died Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. He was born on October 21, 1938, in Ashland, WI to W. Bernard and Anna (Gregoire) O’Sullivan.
He served his country in United States Air Force.
John received his Bachelor of Science degree and master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He was a science teacher at East Jr. High School in Superior retiring after 30 plus years of teaching his passion.
John married Crystal Thomas in the Hammond Avenue Presbyterian Church in Superior on August 9, 1969 and celebrated fifty-one years of marriage.
John and his wife had several hobbies, where they worked side by side, which included stained glass for 13 years, making sun catchers, lamps and windows. They spent more than 28 years buying, collecting, and selling antiques, with a special focus on Red Wing dishes and art ware and attending conventions, sales and auctions.
John is survived by his brother, William B (Karen) O’Sullivan; sisters, Sister Patricia O’Sullivan, and Margaret “Marge” Gee; nephews, Michael (Cathy) Lowe and David (Sandy) Lowe; nieces, Rita (Duane) Konieczny and Mary (Dwight) Schooley and longtime friend, Ken Raihala. He is also survived by numerous other nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Crystal, his sister, Connie Lowe and his parents.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior.
