John R. Raaflaub

December 10, 1936 — May 12, 2019

John Ronald Raaflaub, retired Fire Chief for the City of Superior, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.  He was born on December 10, 1936 to Jay and May (Friberg) Raaflaub. He served his country in the United States Army.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann (Sweeney), parents Jay and May (Friberg) Raaflaub and brother Gerald Raaflaub.

John is survived by his daughter, Diana (Steve) Nelson, Cape Coral, FL; son, Hans (Gayla) Raaflaub, Glenwood Springs, CO; grandchildren, Adam Reed, Leah Raaflaub, Kyle Raaflaub, Angie (Nelson) Bibro and Jesse Nelson; five great-grandchildren and very special friend and companion, Catherine Skamarycz.

He loved his Packer team and was an avid golfer for many years. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles and DP Club of Amnicon Lake. He will be truly missed by his friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at V.I.P. Restaurant in Superior. A private internment will take place at a later date.
