Jon Brent Orstad

Jon Brent Orstad, 84, longtime Superior resident, died Monday, May 6, 2024 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Superior on May 10, 1939, the son of Harriett (Sorenson) and Adolph Orstad.

He graduated from Central High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1961. He wed Carol Morrison on July 2, 1966, and they celebrated 43 years together until her passing in July 2009.

Jon served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1961-1965. He started his career as an insurance adjuster with Crawford & Company, then moved on to St. Paul Insurance Company until retirement. For many years, Jon was a member of the Superior Elks Lodge #403 and had served as Exalted Leader.

He was an avid deer hunter, spending many an hour waiting for the perfect buck to pass by. The Brewers were his team and he heartily enjoyed watching their games. Spending time with his grandchildren was his favorite time. Attending their sporting events was special for him. Jon was well-loved and will be missed.

He is survived by his children Jon (Darla) Orstad and Kristin (Cary) Pallas; his grandchildren, Ryan and Aaron Orstad, Bryan Pallas, Hazel Schumacher, Tenley Pallas, Steven (Courtney) Pallas and Brooks Pallas; and his special cousin, Nancy Dodd.

Jon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol, and his parents, Harriett and Adolph Orstad.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue in Superior, and will continue until the 1:00 pm Memorial Service with Pastor Scott Forsberg officiating.

The burial will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery.
