Jonathan Charles Powers, 53, of Makinen, MN, (in the words of his youngest grandbaby) “floated up to heaven” to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, June 6, 2016.
Jon grew up in Proctor, MN, was a talented athlete and exceptional Rails football player. He graduated from PHS in 1980.
Jon was a skilled carpenter, avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. He loved his cabin home and dreamed of living there one day with his wife, children, and other close family and friends.
During his life, he touched many lives and brought people to know the love of Jesus. His one hope was for everyone he’s known to receive that love so that he’d see them again.
Jon was married to Carmen (Pionk) for 18 years, and together they have two children. They remained close friends until the end of his life, during which Carmen was a devoted caregiver.
In 2001, Jon married Sharon (Mudek), his best friend who he called a “gift from God”. They spent 16 beautiful years enjoying life as a nearly inseparable pair.
He was very proud of and close to his daughter and son. The grandchildren he was blessed with were the joys of his life. He taught them all well and took their destiny and purpose very seriously.
Jon was preceded in death by his loving mother, Dolores Powers, and his father, Rodger Powers. Many loved ones and friends awaited him in Glory.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his children, Jennifer (Clayton) and Adam (Shayla); grandchildren, Jonathan, Jaxon, Josephine, Juniper, Madilynn and Ember; brothers, Jeff, Gene, Gerald and Rod, and sister, Valerie, as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, extended family, in-laws and friends.
He will be missed greatly upon this earth as he rejoices, home free.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 701 Third Avenue, Proctor, MN and continue until the 5:00 PM memorial service with Pastor Rollie Bockbrader and Pastor Terry Hart, officiating.
