Joseph Francis Robek, 91, longtime Superior resident died Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.
He was born March 9, 1925 in Superior, WI to Stephen and Mary (Hervert) Robek.
Joe served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After which he obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.
He worked as Teacher and School Principal in the Finley Park, IL school district for ten years. He later worked as a Security Guard at the Chicago Tribune until he retired in 1988 and moved back to Superior, WI.
He was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, Superior, WI.
He is survived by his sister Mary Robek, Superior, WI and many family members still in the Czek Republic.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a Rosary conducted by the Catholic Daughters of America Court #1190 on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard following the Mass.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
