Joseph Kenneth Shelafoe

February 12, 1946 — January 25, 2018

Joseph Kenneth Shelafoe, 71, of Superior, passed away Thursday, Jan 25, 2018 after a long brave battle with cancer in the comfort of his own home. He was born in Odanah, Wisconsin on Feb, 12, 1946, Son of Frank and Catherine (Halfaday) Shelafoe.

He served honorably in the United States Army.

Joe would like to let you know his work here is done. He received a call he couldn't refuse, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. On this new journey that takes him to wonderful new places, he will be doing what he loves, hunting, fishing, puzzles, cribbage, playing war games and flirting with the ladies.

Joseph is survived by five daughters, Jennifer (Timothy) Kuehnow, Solon Springs, Wis.; Jolene (John) Shelafoe, Superior, Wis.; Corrine (Marvin) White, Chippewa Falls, Wis.; Jackie Shelafoe, Superior, Wis.; Jodel Shelafoe, Superior, Wis.; six sons, Russell (Michelle) Shelafoe, Eau Claire, Wis.; Jeffrey (Tiffany) Shelafoe, Superior, Wis.; Joseph (Rochelle) Shelafoe, Cloquet, Minn.; Joshua Shelafoe, Superior, Wis.; Justin Shelafoe, Superior, Wis.; Jesse Shelafoe, Superior, Wis. and longtime friend Dianna Anderson; twenty-three Grandchildren, McKenna, Arabella, Travis, Carter, Madeline, Noah, Isaiah, Caleb, Andrew, Jacob, Rachel, Hannah, Chloe, Montana, James, Winter, Oliver, Kalaya, Joseph, Madison, Morgan, Jaxson, Grayson, brothers Daniel and Robert Shelafoe, sister Kathleen Craig and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Catherine; son, Christopher; brother Francis and sisters, Lillian, Eunice, Dorothy, Elizabeth, and Donnamae.

Visitation to begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 2, 2018 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior, continuing until the 11:00 AM memorial service with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci officiating.

Burial will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, N4063 Veterans Way, Spooner, Wis.

Pallbearers are Joseph Shelafoe, Jeffrey Shelafoe, Carter Shelafoe, Noah White, Caleb White, Isaiah White, Andrew White.
