Josephine "Joey" M. Herrick

Josephine “Joey” M. Herrick, 81, Superior, WI resident, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 16, 1939 in Superior, WI to Wilfred and Florence (Smith) Borreson. She was the youngest of three children.

She married Walter Herrick Jr. on September 21, 1957 in Superior and spent sixty-three years together. Eventually they became parents to five children. She spent many years as a homemaker raising the children while Pete was serving his country.

She was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed the many conversations she has had with Father Ricci. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and taking weekly road trips to Black Bear Casino enjoying a meal and playing games. She loved her family and was always concerned about their wellbeing. Even the day before she passed, when she could barely speak, she would tell us to be careful before we left. She was an avid Packer fan and during the past weeks would only watch television when the Packers played. Over the years she enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her youngest daughter every weekend.

Joey is survived by her children, Mike (Dede) Herrick, Brenda Herrick, Kim (Bob) Thoen, Debbie (Todd) Williams, all of Superior, WI, and Patrick Herrick, Duluth, MN; sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Florence; husband, Walter “Pete”; two sisters, Jackie Petersen and Betty Gerding; and granddaughter, Autumn.

The immediate family would like to thank St. Mary’s Hospice in the care they provided to mom, as well as those that sent their condolences to our family.

Our family is grateful to you for your presence, support and kindness during our time of loss.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior.

Pallbearers will be Nate Granquist, Mike Herrick Jr., Shane Herrick, Jaron Roatch, Eric Williams, and Sean Herrick.

Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Herrick, Kim Thoen, Brenda Herrick, and Mike Herrick.
