Joyce I. Drinkwine

Joyce I. Drinkwine, 83, longtime Superior resident, died Friday, September 22, 2017 at Encompass Assisted Living in Superior. She was born May 28, 1934 in Duluth, MN, the daughter of Bernard and Josephine (Watczak) Polson.

She married Andre “Andy” Drinkwine on January 12, 1952 at St. James Catholic Church in Duluth, and they celebrated sixty-five years of marriage before his passing earlier this year.

Joyce was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church in Superior. For many years she enjoyed helping her husband Andy with the billing and various other tasks for his construction company.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Kathy Drinkwine, Superior, WI and Peggy (Bruce) Olson, Superior, WI; son, David (Carolyn) Drinkwine, Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Holli (Jason) VanOverbeke, St. Paul, MN, Ryan (Shannon) Olson,
Oak Harbor, WA, Tyler Olson, Duluth, MN, Lacey Olson, Charleston, SC and Peter (Caitlin) Drinkwine, Duluth, MN; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Harrison Olson, Oak Harbor, WA; brothers, Gene Polson, Duluth, MN, Ronald (Beverly) Polson, Cloquet, MN and John (Carol) Polson, Superior, WI; sisters, Shirley (Michael) Martens, Duluth, MN and Carol (John) Belland, Chippewa Falls, WI, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andre in March 2017, and her parents; brothers, Robert, Thomas and Donald Polson, and sister, Virginia Baker.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, 5601 Tower Avenue, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial, with Rev. Fr Ron Olson as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy, Jeff, and Bill Polson, Peter Drinkwine, Tyler and Ryan Olson, and Steve Flagstad.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lacey Olson, Holli and Jason VanOverbeke, Caitlin Vaughn and Shannon Olson.
