Joyce Y. "Bonnie" Savage

Joyce Y. “Bonnie” Savage, 85, longtime resident of Superior, died peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 7, 1936, in Tripp, Wisconsin to Thomas F. and Elsie Gemmill Savage.

She graduated from Iron River High School, earned her B.S., M.S., and Eds. degree in the field of education.

She was a wonderful educator, working with students from primary through graduate school with a special interest in teacher education. She was bright and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed reading, music, conversation and hosting holiday meals for her family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Elsie Savage, brother, Tommy Savage, and sister-in-law, Cathy.

She is survived by her children, Julie (John) Komorowski, Brian (Jan) Bustrak, Chris (Susan) Bustrak, and Paul (Brenda) Bratley; eight grandchildren: Allison Bustrak, John Bustrak, Kristen Huffman, Sharon Bustrak, Michelle Bustrak, Joseph Bustrak, Ethan Bratley, Owen Bratley and siblings: Phoebe Martens, Patrick Savage, Lynda Savage, Bernadette “Detsie” Savage, Michael Savage, and sister-in-law, Sonja Savage.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 10, 2022, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 68105 S. George Street in Iron River, WI, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Michael Crisp as celebrant. Inurnment will be in St. Michael Cemetery with a luncheon to follow.
