Judith Ann (Rackliff) Hooker, 84, of Superior, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21 st in Duluth, MN following a brief illness. Born May 17, 1934 in Superior, to Glendon and Kathryn (Meteraud) Rackliff.
Judy graduated from East High School in 1952 and was recognized as prom queen.
Judy and Gary E. Hooker were united in marriage on August 4, 1956 and had celebrated 61 years of marriage before Gary’s passing in December 2017. She was a longtime employee of Community Bank & Trust before joining the Community Insurance Agency.
An artistic soul, Judy enjoyed painting and drawing. She also worked hard and took great pride in her beautiful flower gardens. Judy was extremely passionate about animals of all kinds but especially adored her faithful companions, her pups, Jini and Elle.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister and brother-in-law, Marcia (Al) Larson; sister-in-law, Gloria, and her husband, Tom Simonson; and nephew, Joel Larson.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, Aunt and friend, Judy is survived by her children; David Hooker and Jill (Dennis) Austin; grandchildren, Brett Austin, Joe (Amanda) Austin, and Jamie (Mark) Sherlock; great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Andrew Bonacci and Caleb and Ryken Austin; sister, Kay (Bill) Koski; brother-in-law, John (Jean) Hooker; Goddaughters, Lisa (Sell) Draper, Holly (Simonson) Levy and Amy (Conner) Fiegle; and her dear friends, Joanne Freiman and Cynthia Nelson.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, 5601 Tower Avenue, Superior, and will continue until the 11:30 AM funeral service with Rev. Fr. David Neuschwander officiating.
Pallbearers for the service will be, Dana Stone, Bill Conner, Rob Schlichting, Tate Schlichting, Bret Austin and Dennis Austin.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior.
