Judith A. Hurin

Judith A. Hurin, 79, lifelong area resident, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, with family by her side, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Duluth, MN. She was born in Superior, WI on April 27, 1944, the daughter of John and Violet (Hill) Koukari.

She graduated from the former East High School in Superior and soon after became a bus driver for her local school district. She later worked as a real estate agent until her retirement.

Judy married the love of her life, Gary Hurin, on February 8, 1964, and they recently celebrated sixty years of marriage. Some of her favorite times were the trips they made, all over the country, in their beautiful motorhome.

Judy loved the outdoors, whether it was tending to her garden or watching the birds on their property in Minong. She also loved to read and do puzzles. Above all, Judy loved her family. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always showing up to support them at any event. She also loved spoiling her grand dogs.

She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband Gary, Minong, WI; sons Michael (Susan) Hurin, Superior, Roy (Suzanne) Hurin, Pequot Lakes, MN, and Jason (Darcy) Hurin, Kennebunk, ME; grandchildren Amanda (Tyler) Reamer, Foxboro, Lori (Evan) Nelson, Superior, Taylor (Cullen) Finn, Kennebunk, ME, and Rachel Petrarca, Portland, ME; six great-grandchildren Makayla, Dylan, Tyler Jr., Chloe, Madi, Peyton, and one on the way; sister Joyce Bowser; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street in Superior. A Celebration of Judith’s Life to follow visitation from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, at the Log Cabin Tavern, 2821 Cty Road E in South Range.
