Julianne Lien, 72, lifelong resident of Superior, WI, died peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at home with her loving family by her side after courageously battling Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, and kidney disease for many years. She was born in Superior on June 4, 1951, the daughter of Edward F. and Norma (Turbett) Novozinski.
Julianne graduated from Superior Senior High School, class of 1969. She went on to further her education earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1982.
She worked for many years as an accountant for the Center for Lake Superior Environmental Studies and Lake Superior Research Institute at UWS and later went on to work as the secretary for the Science Department.
Julianne was an avid reader who loved crosswords and other puzzles. She collected pretty rocks, and was an environmentalist who has recycled since the 80’s.
Julianne also closely followed national politics. She could be found tweeting for democracy under the bio: “Mom, Grandma, OWL (old white lady) decrepit and tweeting for democracy.” Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her children, Heather Lien, Superior, WI, and Eric (Ohnnia) Lien, South Range, WI, and her grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, and Bean (Anessa).
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A private family graveside service will be held at St. Francis Cemetery in Superior.
