Julie Ann (Kildahl) Grube, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 surrounded by family and friends at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. She was born on December 2, 1955, the daughter of James and Esther (Carlson) Kildahl. Her early life and schooling were spent in Superior, WI. After high school, Julie attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior majoring in elementary education and earning both an associates and a bachelor’s degree through her studies.
On June 4, 1977, she married the love of her life, Orville Micheal Grube, and moved to Poplar, WI. Being a wife and mom were very important to Julie and she illustrated that every day of her life. Her love and pride for her family were apparent by her willingness to put their needs ahead of her own. Adding to that joy was the anticipation of becoming a grandmother for the first time in October.
Throughout her adult life Julie remained active in her community and her church, Faith Lutheran in Maple. She was a very talented individual. She taught cake decorating and Christmas cookie baking through the WITC extension program. She was a gifted seamstress, quilter, and painter; selling her craft items at various bazaars. She did chair caning, a lost art in its own right. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, and to hang out with her Bunco and Red Hat friends. She was notorious for trying new recipes and sharing the finished product and the recipe with family and friends. She was a summer school teacher and a substitute teacher for the School District of Maple for the past 24 years. Her reliability and dependability, her sense of true friendship, and her laughter will be missed by all.
Julie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Orville Micheal, Poplar, WI; son, Joseph (Stephanie), Maple, WI; mother, Esther Kildahl, Superior, WI; brother, Bruce (Carol) Kildahl of Black Hawk, SD; mother and father-in-law, Orville and Bernieta Grube, Poplar, WI; brothers and sisters-in-law Orville Patrick (Carolyn) Grube and Orville Edward (Roberta) Grube all of Poplar, WI; aunt and uncle, Judy and Tim Larson, Marquette, MI and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
