June A. Pank

June A. Pank, 95, Superior, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center.

She was born In Superior on May 23, 1919 to Arthur G. and Mina (Gwin) Johnston and was a lifelong Superior resident.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and knitted hats for them for many years.
She and her husband Fran owned and operated the former Pank’s Apco Service and Car Wash in Allouez for 45 years.

June is survived by one son, Donald (Roberta) Pank, South Range, WI; one daughter, Linda (David) Byrka, Superior; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ann Pank, Hermitage, TN; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Pank, Superior; June’s best friend, Audrey Meade, Superior and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis “Fran”; a son, Arthur “Art”; her parents; two sisters, Lois Nelson and Florence Miller and a brother, Harold Johnston.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service at Christ Lutheran Church in Superior with Pastor David Schoessow, officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be Todd Hanson, Shawn Hanson, Bill Pank, Devon Hanson, Bryan McDonald and Matt McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe and Jonathan Pank.
