Karl J. Moe, 72, longtime Superior resident, died Thursday, February 20, 2020 at home peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Madison, WI, May 10, 1947, to Patricia Saucerman, and later adopted and raised by Walter and Alta (Hammerbeck) Moe.
He served his country honorably in the Army National Guard for many years.
Karl worked as a paramedic in Douglas County for many years before his retirement. He was a member of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church in Superior; the Retired Enlisted Association; and the American Rabbit Breeder Association. He was also a 4H Leader, and a Special Olympics coach.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Moe; four children, Brandon Moe, Ashley (Chris) Smith, Cindy Cook, and Chuck (Jamie) Cook; seven grandchildren, Sativa, Robert and Serenity Smith, and Corey, Jeremy, Matt and Michael Cook; and many other “kids” who chose to call him “dad”; three sisters; one brother; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and his first wife, Peggy.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 th Street, Superior. Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church, 4020 S. Darrow Rd., Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Mark Holmes officiating.
