Katherine A. Gray

Katherine A. Gray, 96, long time Superior resident, passed away on October 18, 2022 at New Perspective Senior Living.  She was born on August 9, 1926, in Racine, WI to Dr. Frank and Cora (Hanlon) Marek.

Katherine graduated from Edgewood College, Madison with a Bachelor of Education degree. She married Cyril Armstrong Gray, Jr. on August 20, 1955. They raised four children and celebrated 49 years of marriage before Cyril’s passing in 2004.

Katherine enjoyed creating a warm and loving home for her family. She loved working in her gardens nurturing the flowers and selecting new plants. Traveling was also an interest. She loved winters at their condo on Lake Havasu, AZ and summers at their cabin in Solon Springs, WI.

She enriched her community through membership at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Women’s Club of Superior and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Katherine is survived by two sons, Donald “Donny” Gray and Mitchell “Mitch” (Dawn) Gray, both of Superior, WI; four grandchildren, Katelyn “Katie” Gray, New York, NY, Mark Gray, Superior, WI, Michael “Mike” Gray, Superior, WI, and Alee Milinkovich-Gray, Superior, WI; and daughter-in-law Brenda Gray, Superior, WI.

She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Cora, her husband Cyril “Cy” Gray, daughter Janet Gray, son James “Jimmy” Gray, sister Nancy Byers, and brother John Marek.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Friday, October 28th at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 E 4 ^th Street, Superior and continue until the Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
