Kathleen Ann “Kathy” (Connolly) Edquist, 66, lifelong Superior resident, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 in Houston, TX.
She was born on October 30, 1949 in Superior, WI to William and Doris Connolly.
She graduated from the former Cathedral High School in 1967.
She married Richard “Rick” Edquist on August 26, 1967 in Superior and celebrated 48 years together. Their knot was tight because they tied it twice.
Kathy loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a loving daughter and sister. She worked and played hard with a zest for life.
One of her biggest accomplishments was receiving her accounting degree in 1992 from UWS and then becoming a CPA in 1994. She started her own accounting firm, KAE Accounting, in 1995 until her health forced an early retirement in 2007.
She was an active member and treasurer for the Port Town Part-Time Players and she loved sharing the stage with her grandkids. She was also a member of the East End Business Group where she organized Family Fun Days for several years.
Growing up in a bowling family, Kathy was involved in the Women’s Bowling Association, member of the board and was a junior bowling coach all of which led her to be inducted in the Bowler’s Hall of Fame in 2007, along with her dad. She also loved shopping, pool, softball, bingo and rooting on her favorite team, the Green Bay Packers.
In addition to her husband Rick, Kathy is survived by four daughters, Danette Krosko, Traci (George) Kiggins, Kristi Edquist, Mandi (Carlos) Jimenez; 13 grandchildren, Ricky, Randi, Katie, Krystal, Robbie, Troy, Devin, Brandon, Kaylee, Ryan, Adrian, Bonnie, Tony; seven great-grandchildren; her father, William “Bill” (Sue) Connolly; three sisters, Patti (Eddie) Uresti, Theresa (Lora) Connolly, Jenni (Brad) Homich; five brothers, Dan (Nancy) Connolly, Tim Connolly, Dave (Peggy) Connolly, Frank (Teri) Connolly, John (Lisa) Connolly and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and a granddaughter, Mercedes Jimenez.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and will continue until the 1:00 PM Memorial Service on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Garnatz, of Bethel Lutheran Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, memorials may be made to Kathy’s family and sent in care of Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5 th Street, Superior, Wisconsin, 54880.
