Kathleen "Kathy" Copp

Kathleen “Kathy” Anne Copp, died November 1, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Douglas County. She was born September 7, 1952 in Superior to Richard and Janice (Bergren) Belanger.

She attended Cathedral, Senior High schools and WITC. Kathy married her best friend, Doug Copp on April 10, 1981 and would have celebrated 30 years together this April. She was employed with the Maple School District for 23 years before retiring as the administrative assistant to the principal of the middle school in June of 2008. Kathy was an avid gardener and enjoyed collecting antiques, along with attending auctions, estate and garage sales. Pastimes also included camping and fishing. The lights of her life were her four grandchildren. With them she experienced much laughter and love.

She is survived by her husband, Doug, Brule; two daughters, Jenni (Brady) Smith, Solon Springs and Kristi (Jerry Hall) Copp, Minneapolis, MN. Grandchildren; Mariah Skylondz, Travis Smith, Rowan Smith and Torin Hall. Mother Jan Belanger, Iron River; sisters Rosann Shafer, St. Paul, MN; Sharon (Rick) Sullivan, South Range; and brother, Ricky (Jacki) Belanger, Wautoma, WI.; In-laws; Ray Copp, Vicky and Joel Ward, Dale and Lori Copp, Don (Jodi Brown) Copp, Duke Copp, Shelli and Todd Meteraud. Numerous nieces and nephews. And Patches, her loyal and faithful companion.

Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Richard Belanger, in 2008; and niece, Danielle Belanger, on October 23, 2010.

Per Kathy’s wishes, a visitation to celebrate her life will be held at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior, WI, on Friday November 5, 2010 beginning at 5 pm.
