Kathleen F. Hanson

Kathleen F. Hanson, 70, lifelong Superior resident, died peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends, Monday, April 8, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born in Superior, WI on May 31, 1948, to Kenneth A. and Doris E. (LaValley) Olson.

She graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1966.

Kathy was united in marriage to Robert Hanson on June 25, 1966. They celebrated forty-three years of marriage before his passing in November of 2009. She was the Douglas County Register of Deeds for many years and prior she served as the County Treasurer. She was also a longtime, active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior.

Her greatest virtue was being a Mom and Grandma to her family. Her faith and St. Francis family were also very important to her.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie (Paul) Hanson-Wenske, Superior, WI; son, Bobby (Toni) Hanson, Superior, WI; grandchildren, Desiree (Dustin) Wiita, Alexandria, MN, Brenden (Ashley) Hanson, Brady (Taylor Schultz) Hanson, Austin Wenske, Doriana Carlson and Daisha Carlson, all of Superior, WI; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Noah, Elizabeth, Lillian and Michael; her sixth and seventh great-grandchildren are expected later this year; brother, Kenneth “Paul” Olson, Superior; several nieces and nephews; and longtime sister-like friend, Sandy and Chet Petzold, Superior, WI.

She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Bob; and sister, Janet Schumacher.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 ^th Street, Superior, with a scripture service to begin at 5:00 PM. Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 12, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 E. 4 ^th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be Brenden Hanson, Brady Hanson, Austin Wenske, Paul Wenske, Paul Olson and Chet Petzold.
