Kathleen “Kathy” (Kretzmann) Dusek, 75, passed away on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi on Sunday, June 6, 2021, after a period of declining health. She was born on May 7, 1946, in Salem, MA, the daughter of Rev. Norman D. and Jeannette M. Kretzmann.
She graduated from Marblehead High School in MA and later with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis. She was a library cataloger’s assistant at Concordia College St. Paul, and later at Luther Theological Seminary St. Paul, where she met her future husband, David Dusek on June 6, 1974. Kathleen and David were united in marriage on June 7, 1975, in Minneapolis, MN.
In 1983, Kathleen and David were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Rachel Sarah. In 1985, Kathleen, David and Rachel moved to Superior, WI. She loved reading, doing puzzles and playing Scrabble.
Formerly lifelong Lutherans, Kathleen and David were received into the Catholic Church in 2008. Faith and family were key components in Kathleen’s life, and she was known to pray the four mysteries of the holy rosary and the Divine Mercy chaplet every day. She was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church.
In 2015, Kathleen was delighted to welcome her grandson, Sebastian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Norman and Jeannette Kretzmann, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Rachel (Jason) Leveille; grandson, Sebastian; brothers, Timothy (Jane) and Andrew (Jane Marie) Kretzmann; niece, Angela Joy Kretzmann; nephew, Matthew (Bethany) Kretzmann; mother-in-law, Margaret Dusek, and other relatives on both sides of the family.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 18, 2021, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior, WI.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Kathleen’s name to Cathedral School or to Cathedral of Christ the King Church.
Kathleen lived by the words of her patron saint, Saint Faustina Kowalska: Jezu, ufam Tobie! Jesus, I trust in you!
