Kathleen “Kay” Anderson, 78, Middle River, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 6, 1932 in Superior to Iver and Mary (Connolly) Gilbert.
Kay graduated from Cathedral High School in Superior.
She married Edward “Ed” Anderson on September 8, 1958 and celebrated fifty-two years of marriage before he passed away on September 20, 2010.
Kay was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon and the Sacred Heart Society. Kay’s life was centered around prayer, faith and a profound love and trust in Jesus Christ.
She was also a supporter of the Amnicon Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Rockmont Homemakers Club. She loved knitting and crocheting. Kay also enjoyed teaching others the craft. She also enjoyed Lake Superior fishing and annual trips to Cornucopia with her husband Ed. Kay enjoyed the outdoors and flower gardening.
Kay is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Shawn) Brede, Ashland, WI; three sons, John (Kim) Anderson, Hawthorne, WI, Bill (Carolyn) Anderson, Lake Nebagamon, WI, Mark (Brenda) Anderson, South Range, WI; twelve grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie, Ashlie, Phillip, McCauley, Amanda, Michael, Nolan, Meredith, Natalie, Kristina and Kaylyn; one great-grandson, Orson; one sister, Therese Conner, Superior; one brother, Thomas (Bonnie) Gilbert, Lake Havasu City, AZ and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Ed, Kay is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barbara Charbonneau and one brother, John Gilbert.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM until the 12 Noon Memorial Mass on Friday, March 25, 2011 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon. Rev. Fr. Don Kania will be celebrant.
Inurnment will be in Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers for the service will be her grandchildren.
Kay’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to special friend, Chris Treviranus, the staff and volunteers at the Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful love and care they provided Kay during her stay.
