Kenneth M. “Bud” Gross, 74, Superior, died peacefully in his home on Monday, February 7, 2011.
He was born on July 14, 1936 in Leonard, North Dakota to Melvin and Luella (Moderow) Gross. Bud lived in Duluth, MN for many years before moving to Superior.
He graduated from high school in North Dakota and went on to receive his welder’s certification.
He served in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force as a radio operator during the Viet Nam Conflict.
Bud married Nancy Prebeck on May 6, 1973 in Proctor, MN and celebrated thirty-seven years of marriage.
He was employed as a field sales representative for the Duluth News Tribune for over ten years.
Bud was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Duluth. He enjoyed reading, sports and watching Fox News. In previous years he enjoyed partridge hunting and fishing with his brothers. He also enjoyed working on cars.
In addition to his wife Nancy, Bud is survived by two daughters, Carrie (Jeremy) LaPine, Palm Harbor, FL, Patricia Gross, Superior; three grandchildren, Jill, Kate and Wren LaPine; three sisters, Donna (Ernie) Perhus, Oklahoma, Carol Nye, Oklahoma, Bonnie Portwood, Apple Valley, MN; two brothers, Lyle (Harriet) Gross, Iowa, Bob (Susan) Gross, North Dakota and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Cleon Nye, Larry Portwood and one nephew, Jeff Nye.
Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM and will continue until the 3:00 PM Memorial Service in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th St., Superior, WI 54880 on Saturday, February 12, 2011 with Dik LaPine, officiating.
