Kenneth G. Hopkins

February 11, 1949 — June 11, 2009

Kenneth G. Hopkins, longtime Superior resident, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.
He was born in Allegan, Mich. on Feb. 11 to Ned B. and Dorothy E. (Brinklow) Hopkins. He was previously employed with the I.L.A. as a longshoreman and worked many years as a roofer. Kenny had an ability to draw and was a very talented artist, he was also known for owning Muscle Cars and always working on them. He loved to fish and spend time outdoors with his family. Kenny was a very loving father and grandfather and generous person, always willing to help someone.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy, Allegan, Mich.; two daughters, Brittney (Steve Johnson) Hopkins and Jessica Hopkins and one son, Dustin Kenneth Hopkins, all of Superior; his children’s mother, Carmen Hopkins, Lake Nebagamon; brother, Larry (Tina) Hopkins, Allegan, Mich.; sisters Diane (Steve) Filipunos, Lawton, Mich. and Louise Hopkins, Allegan, Mich.; grandson, Jesse Lee Hitchcock; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Ned and brother James.
Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, June 17, in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Ave., Superior, and continue until the 1 p.m. funeral service.
