Kenneth Olson, 62, Poplar resident, died Sunday, August 2, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. He was born on July 6, 1953 in Bemidji, MN to Willis and Mildred (Neft) Olson.
Kenneth served his country as a Seabee in the United States Navy.
He was an over the road independent truck driver for many years.
He married Cindyella Schjenken on October 30, 1971 in Deer River, MN and celebrated forty-three years of marriage.
Kenneth was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Council 499 and Assembly 1208 and the B53 Club. He was active in the “Forty Days for Life”, a Pro Life Movement.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Cindyella; one daughter, Melissa (Shane) Rice, New Richmond, WI; one son, David (Tracy) Olson, of Olson Auto Repair, Poplar, WI; five granddaughters; two brothers, Phillip and William Ervin Olson, both of Deer River, MN; one sister, Carol Jean (Thomas) Johnson, Grand Rapids, MN; his mother, Millie Olson and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Willis “Red” Olson and two brothers, Michael and Ricky Olson.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 4315 E. 3rd Street, Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Adam Laski and Rev. Fr. Dean Buttrick as concelebrants.
There will be a visitation on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the Carroll Funeral Home, 14 1st Ave NE, Deer River, MN from 1:00 - 2:00 PM with burial following at the Pine Ridge Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
