Kenneth E. Ormsby, Ltcol, Usaf (Ret)

December 4, 1924 — January 22, 2021

Kenneth E. Ormsby, 96, formerly of Duluth, died Friday, January 29, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to E.P and Anne (Klingbiel) Ormsby.

After graduation he joined the Army Air Corps during WWII, became a pilot and served through the end of the war; after the war he worked at Giddings and Lewis in Wisconsin. He returned to the Air Force in 1948 and retired in 1966.  He and his wife, Betty, operated a pet shop in West Duluth until 1980.

Ken was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf and helping his neighbors. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Shriners.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Myrna and Bea, his wife Betty Jayne (Brandt) Ormsby and Madge (Groeshel) Ormsby.

Ken is survived by and will be deeply missed by his sons, Terrence Ormsby, James (Cathy Leger) Ormsby and William (Robin Kelly) Ormsby as well as his many Grand Children and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Oneota Cemetery, 6403 Highland Street, Duluth, MN, followed by a graveside reunion with Betty at 1:00 PM.
