Kerry E. Drew

September 18, 1932 — January 28, 2017

Kerry E. Drew, 84, of Maple, WI passed away on January 28, 2017 after a difficult illness. She is survived by her children, Gaye (Bob) Erkel, Thomas (Renee) Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt, all of Maple, WI and Bonnie Rae Jaminski of Circle Pines, MN as well as four grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, Jennifer and Victoria, and five great grandchildren, Christopher, Cameron, Aiden, Atley and Anna.

Kerry was born in Watertown, SD and lived in Buffalo, NY, Springfield, IL, Vista, CA, and White Bear Lake and Minneapolis, MN before settling in Maple. In her earlier years, she enjoyed sailing, ice skating, roller skating and dancing. She loved fishing, deer hunting, camping, canoeing and snowmobiling. Kerry had many talents and hobbies including knitting, sewing and gardening. She loved to tinker in her workshop. There was nothing that she wouldn’t tackle in home remodeling and repairs. Kerry was fond of saying “that place has possibilities” and “just paint it a great shade of blue”.

Kerry worked hard at whatever it took to support her family. She had been a self-employed seamstress, a tailor for the US Navy, and a public accountant. She was the manager of the Superior Elks Club during the late seventies and tended bar at taverns in Brule into the eighties. Kerry worked for Maple Telephone Cooperative for many years until its sale in 1994, and she retired from her home income tax business in 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Manzanita Griest, only sibling, John Griest, and son-in law, Mark Jaminski, as well many dear friends throughout the country.

The family extends appreciation for the care and comfort of their mother to the staff at Superior Rehab Center and to St. Luke’s Hospice.
