Kevin D. Cheever

Kevin Dale Cheever (70), longtime Superior resident, lost his valiant fight against cancer Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born in Rice Lake, WI on December 5, 1952 to Julius and Mildred (Clark) Cheever.

He graduated from WITC, obtaining his Associate Degree as a CNC machinist/lathe operator, eventually retiring from the Nexen Group in Webster, WI.

Kevin was a sportsman and loved to fish and hunt. He was a self-proclaimed computer geek. His wit was on the dry and somewhat dark side, and he could be as stubborn as the day is long. He will be most remembered as a caretaker. His family always came first. He loved his daughter, fiancée, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews who all held a special place in his heart. Kevin was an amazing man and will be very deeply missed.

Kevin is survived by his fiancée, Michele Bertram; daughter Kaytlyn Nelson; siblings: Robert Cheever, Dennis Cheever, sister-in-law Jane Cheever, Debra Cheever, Terrence (Hye) Cheever, Tamara Campbell and Gail Trombley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the medical staff and palliative care staff of St. Luke’s for their kind and compassionate care extended not only for Kevin but for us, his family.

A Celebration of Life for Kevin will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, October 16, 2023 at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue in Superior.
