Kyle Massey

Kyle Massey, 45, lost his battle with alcoholism and died on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in Glendale, WI. He was born October 27, 1971 in Superior to Timothy Massey and Bonnie (Brower) LaFond.

Kyle graduated in 1990 from Superior Senior High School. He attended UW- Superior, playing in the last season of UWS football. He went on to graduate from UW-Eau Claire with his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Special Education.  He earned his MBA degree from the University of Salt Lake City, UT.

He worked in admissions and as a recruiter for St. John’s Military Academy and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He also worked in admissions in Utah at the University of Salt Lake. Kyle was an avid sports fan who loved the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and the Chicago Cubs. He was also an avid fly fisherman.

Kyle is survived by his twin daughters, Morgan and Brooke Massey, Wauwatosa, WI; mother of his daughters, Dr. Becky (Gilbertson) Massey; mother, Bonnie (Robert ‘Buzz’) LaFond, Rotonda West, FL; father Tim Massey, Lake Mills, WI; step-sister, Ashley (Zack) Carroll, Minneapolis, MN; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Massey;special friend, Kristin Winkler and several aunts, uncles and cousins in New York and the Midwest; his godparents, Pattie Soliday and Bill Massey and many cousins special friends who will serve as his pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior.

Visitation will resume at 9:30 AM on Thursday, November 17, 2016 and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 820 Belknap Street, Superior.

In lieu of flowers, contributions will be donated to “Adult & Teen Challenge Program” and to establish a scholarship at SHS in Kyle’s name. If you have a preference, please indicate. Memorials to be sent c/o Bonnie LaFond, 8 Mark Twain Ln, Rotonda West, FL  33947.
