Laura Lee Heytens

Laura Lee Heytens, 59, longtime Superior area resident, died Saturday, December 26, 2015 at St Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, Minnesota.

She was born in Hayward, Wisconsin on January 11, 1956, the daughter of Richard “Dick” and Virginia J. (Yoder) Heytens, Sr.

Laura graduated from Northwestern High School, Maple, WI and attended UWS earning a BA degree and then she attended University of Minnesota, Twin Cities earning a Master’s degree in Education.

Laura was a teacher in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and the Twin Cities area for over fifteen years.   Laura loved teaching elementary children and enjoyed an interest in music. She was a member of the Minnesota Teachers Association.

Laura was an avid marathon runner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard “Dick” and Virginia Heytens, Sr.

Laura is survived by one brother, Richard “Rich” (Jacki) Heytens, Brooklyn Park, MN; two sisters, Kim Heytens, Duluth, MN and Kathy (Steve) Peterson, Duluth, MN; two nieces and two nephews.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
