Lawrence R. Aiken, 75, Cloquet resident, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth following a brief illness.

He was born on September 29, 1938 in Hayward, WI to Lawrence F. and Mercedes (Buffalo Alto) Aiken.

Lawrence served his country in the United States Army.

He was employed with US Steel as a merchant seaman for many years.

Lawrence was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Chippewa Indians.


He loved games shows and enjoyed sports.

Lawrence is survived by one brother, Raymond (JoAnn) Aiken, Superior, WI; three sisters, Dorothy (John) Cotter, Brisbin, PA, Margaret (Paul) Chiles, and Karen (Cletus)Shaw, both of Cloquet, MN and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald Aiken and sister Ann Boursaw.

Per Lawrence’s wishes no public services are planned.

A private family burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
