Lawrence D. Archambeault

Lawrence D. Archambeault, 91, Superior, died Monday, September 2, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.

He was born on December 12, 1921 in Superior to Napoleon Patrick and Gertrude Mary (Lozon) Archambeault.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.

Larry married Lorraine Marie Vendela on May 8, 1941 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Superior and celebrated seventy-two years of marriage.

He was employed as a truck driver for Northland Transport and he retired from the Burlington Northern railroad as a switchman in 1983.

Larry was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and its choir. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #499, Fourth Degree Knight; life member of the VFW Post #1091 and the U.T.U. Union #832 and a former member of the Elks Lodge #403.
He loved playing bingo and cards and enjoyed going to the casino. He loved singing with the St. Anthony Choir and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Lorraine, Larry is survived by two daughters, Lorraine (Anthony) Jaros, Superior, Beverly (John) Kimmes, Superior; one son, Michael (Terri) Archambeault Stetsonville, WI; two sisters, Bernadette Amys, Superior, Sister Adele Archambeault, Superior; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Lawrence, Jr.; his parents; three sisters, Cecilia Ronchi, Kay Benson and Mae Parenteau; five brothers, Ray, Jerry, Bernard, Napoleon and William and a daughter-in-law, Eva Jo Archambeault.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, September 6, 2013 with a Scripture Service scheduled for 6:30 PM that evening in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home.

Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday , September 7, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Sangmoon Kim and Deacon Kevin Feind concelebranting.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice or St. Luke’s Intensive Care Unit.
