Lawrence J. Quam “Larry” born February 6, 1934 died unexpectedly on June 7, 2020. He married the love of his life Yvonne on December 4, 1954.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Yvonne. His five children Larry (Susan), Ron (Lorrie), David (Susan), Teresa (John) and Dennis (Bonnie). Thirteen grandchildren Daryl (Kamini), Mike (Becky), Scott (Emily), Sean, Eric, Courtney (Steven), Britney, Nicole (Brandon), Austin (Beki), Nate, Matthew, Adam (Angie) and Brian (Haley). 11 great grandchildren Krishna, Anjali, Miles, Emmett, Zoey, Gracie, Henry, Olivia, Nora, Ethan and Dylan. Brother James (Marge) and eight step grandchildren/great grandchildren Christine, Lindsay, Kayla, Hallie, Samara, Eben, Aubree, Corbin and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and June Quam. In-laws Louis and Elnor Johnson. Granddaughter Kathy and brother William “Butch” (Mary).

Larry was a lifelong Superior resident, graduated from Superior Central High School and the University of Wisconsin Superior. He was also a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He worked for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department for 36+ years retiring as an Administrative Sergeant.

Larry has been serving on the Douglas County board of supervisors, district 10 for 20+ years where he served on the health and human services committee as well as numerous other committees. He also served on the Supreme Court of Wisconsin Board of Administrative Oversight and received the “Outstanding Service” award.

Larry was an active member of the community. He participated and volunteered for many organizations including Little League baseball 20+ years; pony league football; United Commercial Travelers (UCT)-serving as a local, state and international committees including president of the International Secretary/Treasurers Association and Past Imperial Ruler of Bagman; Masonic Temple and AAD Shriners; Moose Club, Elks Club and Cub Scouts.

Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid bingo player. His favorite pastime activity was going on a long car ride with Yvonne and their beloved pet Sassy. They always enjoyed stopping for ice cream. He was an extremely dedicated family man. He loved going to all of his children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s events. He never missed a sporting event or graduation. Larry will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery with his beloved dog Sassy.

Due to COVID funeral services will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church at a later date.
