Lela G. Treakle

Lela G. Treakle, 74, a longtime area resident of Superior, died November 12, 2021. She was born in Superior, WI on September 7, 1947, the daughter of John and Frances (Quinn) Rinnett.

Lela graduated from East High School in Superior in 1965 and went on to complete keypunch school in Minneapolis, MN.  She worked as a customer service representative, administrative assistant, payroll specialist and domestic violence advocate throughout her working years.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed arts, crafts, cooking, baking and playing Keno. Lela was a member of the Kiwanis Club and a strong advocate for Domestic Violence Interventions in Fallon, Nevada.  She will always be affectionately referred to by many as “Auntie Lala”.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Stephanie) Treakle, Wendy (Daniel) Bender and Todd (Julie) Treakle; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Jody (Terry) Tetzlaff; nephews Shane and Gavin Tetzlaff; nieces Kim (Tim) Welch, Kathy Converse, Angela Hahn and Jessica Hahn; aunt, Julia Rinnet; cousin/lifelong friend JoAnn (James) Bradford and several other cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret J. Steltz; nephew Daniel Converse; former husband, father of her children and lifelong friend, Don Treakle; special sister-in-law, Vi Tuura, and longtime friend Sally Tollefson.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2021 at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior, WI.  Visitation will resume at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Mission Covenant Church, 5161 S County Road P, Poplar, WI and will continue until the 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service, with Pastor Darrell Nelson officiating.
