Leonard J. Bouffard, 91, longtime Superior resident, died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on June 24, 1917 in Grand Haven, MI to Peter J. and Helen (Lidewski) Bouffard.
Leonard served his country in the United States Army during World War II receiving the Victory Medal and Asia-Pacific Medal. He is a veteran of Aleutian Islans and did special duty with the United States Navy at Dutch Harbor, Alaska and served in the Corps of United States Army Engineers.
He retired from Douglas County as a paramedic and previously was an electrician in Chicago, IL for many years.
He was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, Superior Ragtime Society and the Teamsters Union.
Leonard is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 27, 2009 in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Daniel Dahlberg as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Gary Dunning, Greg Swanson, Milton Walberg, Dave Moe and Bob Clements.
The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
