Linda M. Deroo

Linda Marie DeRoo, 74, lifelong resident of Superior, WI, died peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Superior, November 11, 1949, the daughter of Robert and Delores (Altman) Levin.  She was a graduate of Superior Senior High School, class of 1967.

Linda was united in marriage to Archie DeRoo in June of 1978, and they celebrated twelve years of marriage before his passing in 1990.

Linda worked in the hospitality industry most of her life and enjoyed various positions at places such as Globe News and The Kitchen, where she worked for many years.

Linda loved music and attended many concerts with her son, Jon. One of her favorites was Jimmy Buffett. She enjoyed bird watching, baking, watching cooking shows and old westerns, and she especially enjoyed traveling to Jamaica.

Linda’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She loved visiting with her sisters and finding any reason to get together and share in laughter. Linda will forever be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, her wit and sense of humor, and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Jon DeRoo (Susan Watts), Duluth, MN, and Delores “Didi” DeRoo (Greg Anderson), Superior, WI; her grand-dogs, Oreo, Madison, and Holley; sisters, Barbara Roe (William Gunderson), Mary Esterholm, Jeanette Kindred (Glen Tapper), Debbie (Rob) Semborski, all of Superior, WI; brother, Tom Levin, Superior, WI; many nieces and nephews that meant the world to her, too many to mention … you know who you are! Linda is also survived by many of Jon and Didi’s friends that she thought of as her own; her stepmother, Naudean Oesterreich, and her biological son who was adopted at birth, Brian (Lori) Hilzendager, Robbins, IA, and her grandchildren, Lauren, and Josh. Linda felt very blessed to have reconnected with Brian and cherished the relationship they cultivated over the last several years.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Archie DeRoo; brother, Robert Levin; brother-in-law, Mark Esterholm; sister-in-law, Sue Levin; her special nephew, Lonny Roe; her parents: Delores (Levin) Oesterreich; stepfather, Jack Oesterreich who raised her, and her birth father, Robert Levin.

A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held from Noon-4:00 PM, Saturday, May 4, 2024, at V.I.P., 1201 Tower Avenue, Superior. The family invites everyone to please wear your favorite tropical attire.
