Linda J. Oberstar

April 8, 1946 — October 4, 2015

Linda J. Oberstar, 69, formerly of Superior and Barnes, WI, currently of Verona, WI, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 in Verona.

She was born on April 8, 1946 in Superior to Elmer and Mabel (Larson) Hoff.

She graduated from Central High School in 1964 and went on to receive her Bachelors and Masters in Business Education from University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1969.

Linda taught business education at UWS from 1969-1972 and at Superior Senior High School from 1973 – 2001 from which she retired after 28 years.

She married Lawrence I. Granstrom on April 2, 1966 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and they were married for 16 years before he passed away in 1982. Linda remarried Robert L. Oberstar on August 11, 1984 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and celebrated 28 years of marriage before he passed away on October 26, 2012.

Linda was an active member of the Wisconsin Teacher’s Association, the Barnes Area Historical Association and the Barnes Garden Club and proud to have won the honor of Best in Show.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa (Andrew) Larson, Laura (Seth) Nelson; two sons, Erick (Kellie) Oberstar, Justin (Rosie) Oberstar and six grandchildren, Hannah and Mark Larson, Inga and Charlie Nelson and Connor and Quinn Oberstar.

In addition to her husbands, Linda was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Doris Kremer and Lois Potter and a brother, Richard Hoff.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Friday, October 9, 2015 also at Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

Burial will be Graceland Cemetery. Please join us for lunch after.

Pallbearers for the service will be her two sons, Erick and Justin Oberstar, her sons-in-law, Andrew Larson and Seth Nelson and her grandson Connor Oberstar.

Downs-Lesage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
