Lois Mae Hill

Lois M. Hill, 91, passed away on November 11, 2022. She was born on January 9, 1931, to Sylvester and Martha (Dormady) Palumbo.

Lois married Gordon “Gordy” Hill on January 10, 1953. Together Lois and Gordy raised six children.

Lois taught elementary school in Madison, WI and Duluth, MN before setting her career aside to start a family. She eventually returned to teaching in Superior. She taught at Franklin and Bryant Elementary Schools for nearly 30 years.

Lois had many interests over the years. She knitted, quilted, made beautiful stained-glass creations, tended her flower gardens with a passion, traveled widely in retirement, and loved her miniature schnauzers, Shotze, Maggie and Mia.

Lois is survived by two sons, David (Julie) Hill, Superior, Tim (Bridget) Hill, LaCrosse, WI; three daughters, Martha (Thomas) Rounds, Centennial, CO, Elaine (Mark) Aldorfer, Eagle River, AK, Kelly (Joe) Kantarik, Superior; four grandchildren, Tiffany, Adison, Karen, and Elizabeth.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gordy, son James, her parents, and her brother Robert.

A private family funeral was held on Friday, November 18, 2022, with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery.
