Lois E. "Babe" Van Driessche

Lois E. “Babe” Van Driessche, 90, Superior, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on November 11, 1924 in Spooner, WI to Otto H and Albina (Arseneau) Thorson.

She married Gust Van Driessche on August 18, 1945 in Spooner, WI and celebrated sixty-five years of marriage before he passed away on July 10, 2011.

Babe was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was also a member of the choir. She loved playing cards with friends and gardening.

She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Van Driessche Beauchamp (Gerald), Superior, Julie (Jim) Bender, Rice Lake, WI; two sons, James (Patricia) Van Driessche, Largo, FL, Randy (Connie) Van Driessche, Superior; ten grandchildren, Heidi, Lindsay, Colleen, Sarah, Jessica, Tommy, Jill, Andy, Steve and Brian; 19 great-grandchildren, Brad, Alayna, Laura, Aleigha, Taylee, Reed, Brooke, Taylor, Natalie, James, Liberty, Carson, Elodie, Chase, Cole, Cooper, Ben, Sam and Baby Zackery Dennis to be born in June and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Gust, Babe is preceded in death by a son Tom Van Driessche; a sister, Lorraine Patrow and two brothers, Glen and Howard Thorson.

A private family memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
