Loretta V. Fisher

Loretta V. Fisher, 90, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, July 19, 2010 at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center in Superior.

She was born on August 29, 1919 in Superior, WI to Theodore and Frances (Landowski) Marsolek.

She graduated from Central High School in 1937 and Bartley Business School.
She was employed as secretary in the Duluth/Superior area and UW-Superior - Student Affairs Office retiring in December of 1985.

Loretta married Joseph Fisher on December 19, 1944 and they celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage before his passing in January of 2004.

She was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 1190, a life member of the Women of Moose Lodge #606, Superior Elks Lodge #403, St. Francis volunteers, UW-Superior Alumni Association and the National Chapter of AARP. Loretta was an avid reader and crossword puzzle worker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Janis K. Fisher in 1973, husband Joseph in 2004 and brothers George and Paul Marsolek.

Loretta is survived by one daughter, Linda (Marvin) Hermanson, Brule, WI; two sons, Scott Fisher, Minneapolis, MN and Greg Fisher, South Range, WI; three grandsons, Edward (Deb) Hermanson, Mesa, AZ, Steven Hermanson, Iron River, WI and Matt Hermanson, Spooner, WI; four great-grandsons, Thomas, Zachary, Adam and Aiyden Hermanson; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Skylar Hermanson; one great great-grandson, Jake Hermanson; nephew, Theodore Marsolek, Orange City, FL.

Visitation will begin after 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 22, 2010 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior where a 5:00 PM CDA Rosary will be held. Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 23, 2010 in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and will continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci and Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrants.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Loretta’s name to the UW-Superior Foundation “Janis Fisher Scholarship Fund” or to Cathedral School.
