Loretta Myra Renquist, 90, passed away December 28th, 2018, after a long and difficult stay in a nursing facility in Superior, Wisconsin. Loretta was born on January 28th, 1928, in Lansing, Michigan to James and Virginia Foster.
Loretta married Russell Renquist on February 6th, 1954 in Bay City, Michigan. Russell and Loretta had a home in the countryside of Poplar, Wisconsin where they had three children- Russell, Kelly, and Cary.
Loretta had a love for shopping, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for driving her trusty Ford vehicles through the winter storms to get to her destinations and picking Russell up from Great Lakes shipping ports. Loretta had a keen eye for fashion and especially loved getting her granddaughter the latest styles. She loved all her collections of glassware, dolls, and many other things classic to the hoard of the depression era. Loretta also had a love for animals- having many dogs and cats over the years and always feeding birds and other wildlife in her yard. She loved lunches with her friends, especially their famed birthday gatherings. Loretta’s true love and pride and joy was in her granddaughter, Bret Ann. They saw one another daily and spent many hours talking about Bret Ann’s studies, travel, art, decorating, etc. Loretta also had a great love for her great granddog, Tasha who did many tricks for treats on the daily for her. Loretta was an incredibly feisty woman who had no fear in saying and doing as she pleased.
The last 8 years of her life were not easy and full of suffering in health issues that caused her continued pain and took away from her living a quality life that she deserved.
Loretta is survived by her son Russell Renquist, son Cary Renquist and his wife Ana, daughter Kelly and her husband David Evered, granddaughter Bret Ann Evered and her husband Jimmy Davis, and many grand and great grand critters.
The family asks memorials be made to the Douglas County Humane Society or can be sent to PO Box 48; Poplar, WI 54864.
A private, family gathering will be held next week to remember Loretta’s life.
