Lorna G. Demars

Lorna G. DeMars, 91, lifelong resident of Superior, passed away on January 19, 2025, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior. Lorna was born to Frank J. and Effie R. Godfrey on May 25, 1933.

She married John A. (Jack) DeMars on July 23, 1955. Together they had six children.

Lorna was a skilled seamstress lending her talents to the Duluth Ballet, and with her daughter Chrysa, produced lovely wedding dresses for hundreds of Twin Ports area brides. Lorna was most happy spending time with family on Lake St. Croix in Solon Springs, something she had been doing since she was a teen.

Lorna is survived by her children Carla (Mark) Simenson, Chrysa (Mike) Luhrsen, Randy (Julie) DeMars, and Suzanne (Tony) Semborski, sister-in-Law Beverly Godfrey, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a son Timothy, daughter Rebecca, parents Frank and Effie, brother Thom Godfrey, and ex-husband John.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Lenroot Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street in Superior, and will continue until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski officiating.

A Private Interment will take place at St. Pius X Cemetery in Solon Springs at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff of Harmony House Assisted Living for the love and care they provided our mother, making Lorna’s final years enjoyable.
