Lorraine Johnson

Lorraine Johnson, 87, Superior, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, Superior.

She was born on March 8, 1926 in Superior to Theodore and Elizabeth (Heirman) Van Overmeiren and was a lifelong Superior resident.

She married Leo Johnson on November 26, 1949 in Allouez and they celebrated
sixty-three years of marriage.

Lorraine was employed as a stenographer for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1985.

She was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the church choir for over sixty-five years. She was a longtime Social Club member with her family and friends and a member of the Telephone Pioneer Club, where they marched in parades and entertained at rest homes.

In addition to her husband Leo, Lorraine is survived by one daughter, Roberta (Buzz) Ronchi, three grandchildren, David (Stephanie), Matthew (Amy) and Kelley, six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Nolan, Hayden, Bryce, Ella and Colton and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son David in 1978; her parents; two brothers, Peter and Edward Van Overmeiren and two nephews, James and Richard Brown.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 16 , 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Sangmoon Kim as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be two grandsons, Matthew and David Ronchi and two nephews, Jim and Rick Van Overmeiren.

Lorraine’s family would like to send a special thanks to Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Superior, the second floor staff of nurses, doctors, social worker, chaplain, hospice aids and therapists for their kindness, compassion and comforting Lorraine.
