Louise M. Kubarek

Louise Marie Kubarek, 97, lifelong Superior resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Villa Marina Nursing Home in Superior. She was born on February 4, 1927, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (DeKoninck) Smith.

She was united in marriage to Stanley Kubarek on October 12, 1946. They spent 34 years together before his passing on July 19, 1980.

Louise attended St. Louis school and graduated in 1945 from Cathedral High School in Superior. She then worked as a waitress for many years, but most importantly, she was a wonderful mother to her four children.

Louise was a devout catholic and longtime member of Holy Assumption Church where she was an active volunteer and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge #606 and was in the Women’s Bowling League in Superior for many years. Louise was a big Green Bay Packers fan and loved going to the casinos. Above all, she loved being a grandma and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an adored auntie to many nieces and nephews. She was proud of her Belgian heritage and her extended Belgian family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Patricia (Bill) Cooke, Marquette, MI, Robert (Kimmy) Kubarek, Arkansaw, WI, Rose (Greg) Pitt, Town of Superior, and Ronald (Bonnie) Kubarek, Hayward, WI; Grandchildren, Jason (Jill) Cooke, Barrett (Vera) Cooke, Janel (Joe) Rayome, Luonda (Damon) Holter, Malissa Kubarek (Joe Pittman), Jacob Kubarek, and Nolan Kubarek; Ten great-grandchildren, Connor Cooke, Lyla Cooke, Katherine Cooke, Peter Cooke, Ema (Derrick) Madaris, Jacie Bond, Cody Bond, Shiann Nerby, Cherry Norell, and Sawyer Pittman; One great-great-grandchild, Lillian Lu Madaris, and many nieces and nephews.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanley, and her siblings Bertha Hugdahl, Alphonse Smith, Cyriel Smith, Archiel DeSmet, Sr. Margaret Smith and Maurice Smith.

A Visitation was held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Holy Assumption Church, 5601 Tower Ave in Superior and continued until the Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci officiating, and a luncheon following in the church hall.

A Celebration of Louise’s Life will be held from 12:00 PM- 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11515 US-HWY 63, Hayward, WI 54843.
