Loyd O. Swenson

Loyd O. Swenson, 92, Superior resident, died Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Villa Marina Health & Rehabilitation Center in Superior, WI. He was born on October 14, 1924 in Poplar, WI to Swen and Edla (Nelson) Swenson.

He graduated from Superior Central High School in 1942. Loyd worked on his farm in Poplar, WI. In 1965, he worked for the state in Lancaster, WI retiring after twenty-three years of service in 1988.

He married Edna Tyykila on April 7, 1956 and they celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage before her passing in 2014.

Loyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be remembered always as a man of God who believed in the power of prayer. He was a grateful person who loved people.

Loyd is survived by one son, Keith (Becky) Swenson, Howard Lake, MN; one daughter, LuAnn (Danny) Webster, Rowlett, TX; four grandchildren, Britta, Lukas, Elizabeth and Joseph and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna in 2014 and brothers Hjalmer “Jim” and Clifford “Cliff” Swenson.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Mission Covenant Church in Poplar , WI and continue until the 11:00 AM memorial service with Pastor Darrell Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Cemetery, in Poplar, WI.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Loyd’s name to Mission Covenant Church in Poplar.
