Luanne Wachula

Luanne (Halonen) Wachula, 72, resident of Duluth, MN, has gone home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 17, 2025, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Duluth on April 14, 1953, to Wallace and Barbara (David) Halonen.

Luanne was raised in Patzau, WI and graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1971. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. For the past twenty-five years, she resided in Duluth with her husband, Michael Wachula.

Throughout her life, Luanne cultivated her talents in knitting and sewing, creating pieces with considerable skill and attention to detail. Family members were often recipients of her handmade items, from blankets to aprons, which served as practical reminders of her presence in their lives. She was a regular attendee of her local church and was known for her dedication to family record-keeping. She took numerous family photographs and maintained a meticulous calendar of birthdays, anniversaries, and other significant dates for all family members, rarely missing an opportunity to send a card for special occasions.

Luanne is survived by her husband, Michael; children Jeanine (Brent) Edstrom and Derek Anderson; their father Steven Anderson; siblings Dixie Lee Brill, Terri Biscay, Greg (Cindie) Halonen, and Marty Halonen; son-in-law Scott Rochon; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Rae Rochon; her parents Wallace and Barbara Halonen; and brother Ted Halonen.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Daniel Nikcevich at Essentia Health and the staff at Essentia Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Luanne.

A Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street in Superior, and will continue until the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, officiated by her auntie Major Rosemary Matson. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior.
