Lucille Johanna (Ehlers) Nelson

November 30, 1925 — February 26, 2015

Lucille Johanna (Ehlers) Nelson, 89, Superior, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 in her son’s home, following a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 30, 1925 in Superior to Erich and Anna (Roll) Ehlers and was a Superior resident for most of her life.

She graduated from the former Central High School in 1945.

Lucille married Williard Nelson on May 7, 1952 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior and celebrated 52 years of marriage before Willard passed away on September 4, 2004.

After graduating from high school, she went to work at Roth Brothers Department Store in the alterations department until the time of her marriage, when she became a stay-at-home mom. During her time at home, she would do sewing for other people and was known for her beautiful handy work.

She was a lifelong member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church; a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Superior Chapter #252 and she was life member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

Lucille was a devoted, loving wife and mother and her family always came first.

She loved to play cards such as canasta, she was a fantastic cook, she was always willing to help others and liked to take the occasional trip to the casino with her daughter. She was also known for her red lipstick.

Lucille is survived by one daughter, Linda M. Nelson, Superior; one son, William “Bill” Nelson, Superior; one sister-in-law, Lois Nelson, Calistoga, CA; many nieces, nephews, friends and her special canine friend, Toby.

In addition to her husband Willard, Lucille is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Ted Ehlers.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church with Pastor Will Mowchan, officiating.

Burial in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.

Lucille’s family would like to thank Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Lucille during her illness. Lucille would have thought they were all Angels.
