M. June Orlowski, 83, Superior, formerly of Iron River, WI, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Lighthouse of Superior. She was born September 14, 1928 in Rockland, ME to Darrell and Ruth (Duswald) Mann.
She married Alex Orlowski on June 15, 1946 in South Portland, ME and recently celebrated sixty-five years of marriage.
June was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church, former member of St. Michael Catholic Church and its Altar Society in Iron River; Douglas County Senior Center Crafty Ladies of which she was a former board member, the Kazoo Kids, R.S.V.P., American Legion Auxiliary #506, life member of the Iron River V.F.W. Post Auxiliary #10197, life member of the Superior Chapter of the D.A.V. and a member of Iron River Rebekah Lodge #192.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, flower gardening, crafts, taking the occasional trip to the casino, stamping up cards spending time with family and friends especially her grandchildren.
June is survived by one son, Mike Orlowski; nine daughters, Linda Ruska, Marie Godfrey, Patty (Tom) O’Connell, Collette (Paul) VanHove, Mary (Gordy) Laakso, Theresa Banick, Michelle (Bruce) Berg, Cheryl (Dave) Beetcher, Dawn (Guy) Moen, twenty-one grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Rose Vogt, a son-in-law, Dennis Godfrey, a great-grandson, Evan P. Crotser and her parents.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th St., with a Scripture Service scheduled for 6:30 PM that evening. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrant.
Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be June’s grandchildren, Jen Laakso, Luke Laakso, Claire Mireau, Alison and Kristen Godfrey, Morgen and Mason Moen and also, Ben Walters and Guy Moen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Orlowski, Berdine Anderson, Ethel Bartholemew and Dorothy Granfors.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in June’s name to Cathedral School or the Douglas County Senior Center both of Superior.
