Madelyn A. Vreeland

May 17, 1929 — January 4, 2021

Madelyn A. Vreeland, 91, lifelong area resident, died peacefully, Monday, January 4, 2021 at Aspen Health in South Range, WI. She was born in Duluth, MN, May 17, 1929, the daughter of Lukes and Gladys (Bain) Petron.

She was united in marriage to Dale W. Vreeland, July 19, 1949 and they celebrated sixty-three years of marriage before his passing in 2013.

Madelyn worked as a Lab Tech for Gieson Clinic and the Douglas County Blood Bank for many years before she retired. She was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior and its altar society; her and Dale worked many church dinners at St. Francis.

Madleyn enjoyed ceramics and was a gifted baker and seamstress, making many of her daughters’ clothes. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Thomas) Trianoski, Iron River, WI, Mary Beth Albertz, Eau Claire, WI, and Patrice “Patty” (Steve Yeske) Schraufnagel, Centerville, MN; sons, Gary (Jean) Vreeland, Superior, WI, Kenneth (Rita) Vreeland, Minneapolis, MN, and Gregg Vreeland, Fridley, MN; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jo Petron; nephew, Jon Petron; and niece, Mary Jo Beamer.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale; brothers, Jim, Severin, Michael, and Kenneth; grandson, Austin Schraufnagel; and her parents.

Madelyn was joined in heaven by her daughter, Mary Beth Albertz on May 21, 2021. A joint service will be held for both Madelyn and Mary Beth.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 18, 2021 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 E. 4 th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
