Margaret M. “Mickey” Barnaby, 89, formerly of Lake Nebagamon, WI, currently of South Range, WI, died Saturday, April 10, 20l0 in the Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on February 2, 1921 in Ashland, WI to Robert and Lucy (Heidemann) Moder.
She had been employed at the telephone office in Duluth, MN; as the site coordinator for the Douglas County Nutrition program and she had been trained as a professional tailor for the WPA Program.
Mickey married Thomas Barnaby on December 31, 1941 in Cloquet, MN and celebrated fifty-six years of marriage before he passed away in 1997.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon.
Mickey loved to sew, knit and cook. She also loved her many pets over the years, especially her cats. She loved to garden also. She was a warm and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mickey is survived by one daughter, Michele (Leo) Hughes, Lake Nebagamon, her children, Travis (Angela) Hanson, Ryan (Michelle) Hanson and her grandchildren, Isabella, Sophia, Josie and Max; one son, Richard Barnaby, Lake Nebagamon; and his children, Jennifer, Christine and Michael Barnaby.
In addition to her husband Tom, Mickey is preceded in death by her oldest son, Michael, and her parents.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 10:30 AM Rosary Service with 11:00 AM Memorial Mass to follow on Saturday, April 17, 2010 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon. Rev. Fr. Dean Buttrick will be celebrant.
Burial will be at a later date in Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
